Journal page; Feeding the Neighbors Cats

From blank page to journal page of something we just did for our neighbors.

Fed and check on cats and brought in Mail while away. The reward is that lovely River View we get to visit. I had to paint it. I added the cats on bottom and some mail to remind me of what we did. I am really enjoying this way of recording something we do.
I just wish I had started with better paper. This is 98 lbs and it buckles with a lot of paint, but I don't want to switch now, so I will use it up and next time find something better. I am limited in what I buy in our small town and I liked the big size of this book. Who knew I would actually keep this up.

ANNIE the spoilt but loved Shhh dont tell her she a dog..

Dont even think of touching that Clicker. :)

The Life of a very spoilt dog.
Yes we have to cover the couch. I bought this pretty couch when we had only ONE old cat.
Who knew we would get another cat and a dog. but I found this quilt that matches fairly well.

But shes worth it.

I heard some commotion in the living room and saw this. She was just rolling all over here. LOL So I grabbed my camera. We also have to cover the back of the couch to protect it from the woodstove heat in winter. Its not that close but still I like it protected.

A few walks are in order too.

A walk with a view.

She started in not walking on her left leg again a couple weeks ago.

The Vet was afraid she might have snapped the suture but when we took her in it was fine and is holding.

We have have her on some Anti inflammatory meds and so now she hops and walks but its getting better as the days go by. It could be the weather or she was running around and stepped in a hole. I dont know what she did.

I decided to save some money and buy some people Glucosamine and MSM and chondroitin pills when I ran out of the dog ones I got for her after her operation, and Dr K said it might be why she started in limping again as the people stuff is NOT as good as the dog stuff or this brand. In fact he said its CRAP. OK....

So I got another bag of the Nutramax Dasuquin with MSM which is expensive...and we will see if that helps.

After all SHES WORTH IT !!

Journal page of Spring Sightings

Woke up to see the mountains behind us shrouded in fog as we see alot but the houses were peeking thru and it looked so earthriel. I tired to capture it as best I could. I always think of castles in the sky when seeing that view. Lately we have been noticing all of a sudden the sparrows staking out their bird houses they want for nesting. Two have been taken over so far. I am hoping for more. We used to have them ALL filled but then the big birds started coming to feed.

And then looking around I took notice of the crocus coming up.. The yellow ones always seem to come up first. The purple/blue next. The Primroses peek up too tho tiny, and this year some Daffodils are coming up and have blooms on them that haven't bloomed for awhile. This time of year when I see primroses I always think of Anne of Green Gables and want to get it out to read again. She discribes flowers so well in that book.

So this was my page of daily Treasures, as Pam Johnson Brickell, called them. I love the way that sounds.

Hope you're having a wonderful extended weekend.

I have another blank page staring at me to fill of NEW daily treasures.

Journal page ..Morning sounds in the air...

I went outside early this morning to sit on my bench and draw something.

I couldn't find anything of interest to draw.

That ole blank page glared at me.

But the sun shinning on me felt so good I just sat there soaking it up.

Then I heard the twilling bird sounds coming from the tree up front
full of Black birds. I heard the Towhee's in the bushes making their lovely sounds.

I saw them darting here and there.

As I continued to sit there I was aware of other sounds drifting in the air.

So I picked up my pencil and started writing down what I was hearing. When done I thought how can I tie this journal page together. I needed some art.

Walla.. the bench I was sitting on.
Not long after I wrote things down, the clouds swooped in and let go pouring rain.

But this journal page will remind me of how peaceful it was sitting out there in sunshine reflecting on things around me I wouldn't have noticed without going out to draw something.

Have a great Weekend. Take time to listen to the nature around you.

Journal page of Annie in sunroom

Rib is doing better after a few chiro visits later.... So I did this sketch yesterday morning

while drinking my tea in the sun room. Annie got up three times to find her ball and Daisy tried getting into my lap and finally walked thru my paints so I added some of her art at the bottom too. :) Its not easy doing animals live!
The mornings in winter are usually spent in the sun room drinking our tea and coffee after breakfast, by the Happy light we got at costco this fall, watching the birds we feed and our little TV with GMA on. Daisy is usually on my lap and Con is throwing Annies ball some for her inbetween this crazy sucking and kneading by Annie. This is the only time she does this too. She always dumps her ball out of reach or behind her toy box for some reason then grabs a stuffed toy.. she'll root thru her toy box to pick just the right one for that morning, which cracks us up, then lays down with it in her mouth to suck on and reaches out for her old rug, we keep for her, to knead.
Morning Rituals.
Do you have any morning Rituals?

ANIMAL WEDNESDAY

My Rib has been giving me fits so no drawing in journal.

so Its Animal Wednesday and I am sharing some Pictures I have taken recently.

Annie loves going exploring.

Unfortunately She has reverted back to limping again for some reason.

Maybe she over did it running around outside. I am hoping its temporary, but its been a few days now.

Or else she is tuning into me and my pain from our damp coldness we have had for a few days.

I wonder.. Can dogs and animals feel the weather as we can?

These guys were slowly ambling across the street here and I had to go shoo them out of the way of a car wanting by and I wish I had had my camera on when I did that as they didn't run ..they up and flew over me.. so close and it was sooooooo cool.

OK Spring birdie.. do your Magic.. Bring us SPRING!!!

Second Duckpond journal sketch of birds

Part two of my duck pond visit in my journal.

I decided to add some of the birds seen in certain poses.

I found a wonderful book I ordered off Amazon.com and have been reading and enjoying a lot.

Its called; "Create your own Artist's journal" by Erin O'Toole.

Its right up my alley in what I'm doing but gives lots of great pointers.

I was going thru some of my old Victoria magazines recently, Something I do in the middle of every winter as it cheers me up and inspires me for new projects, and in a 1998 or 99 issue I found this small article on Erin. She was in the process of writing this book She said, so I looked it up...Isn't the Internet wonderful?... to see if she ever did and, walla, it was published in 2002. I sure wish I had gotten hooked on doing this back then. I would be so much further along it doing something I have longed to do for years.

But its never to late to follow your dreams.

Visit to the duck pond sketchbook page

We made a trip to the Duck Pond today and took some more photos.

Came home and played around with some of the birds I saw on this sketchbook page.
There was lots of activity going on today. So I did a little montage of the birds. Color is off on this because I scanned it. The mud hen on the bottom was laying right by the Canada goose like it was its mate. The cormorant spent a lot of time sunning itself so I just HAD to draw him. I started with him and added the Goose and Hen next. The mallard was so pretty I decided to fill in the space with him.

This little gem is a note I have kept for years. Its a note my Dad left for my Mom about taking out the trash in the fridge one morning when he left for work. This is a self portrait of him, and it looks a lot like him too..cept for the silly exaggerated mustache. :))
His High school was El Centinela or the year book was or something...I forget... so hence the reference to Indians. He used to leave silly little notes all over for my Mom. I wish I had them all. This says.. Garbage in bottom of freezer..me throw um out. Ugh! :)
We saw lots of these little guys at the duck pond today.

Does anyone know what they are? Some kind of duck? Con kept saying they were mud hens but I am not sure they are. I had to zoom in to get these so they blurred.
